"Cavescape" Print

This is where it all started for me. While it is not an exact replica of my mother's work, it is close enough to remind me what drew me into art (pardon the pun). I was 9 years old and had been watching my mother oil paint since I was an toddler. It totally mesmerized me. It was a painting of a grotto scene like this that sealed the deal though. She had painted it as a commission for our next door neighbour. I stared at it forever and felt like I could feel the thunderous crashing of the waves against the rocks. I spent so much time on the shoreline in Nova Scotia so it was inevitable that I would do this painting. I don't know where my mother's painting is now but I have the memory of it and it remains fresh in my mind. I thought I would share a print of it with the world as a reminder of how the small the things in life can bring so much joy. This print pays homage to my mother and mentor Patricia Marie (Bearns) Carroll. I think she would be thrilled to know that I have carried on her passion for oil painting and would be honored to know a little piece of her will hang in your home.
